Subwoofers

• To reproduce the full range of sound you are going to need a subwoofer (at least one, a second unit is recommended).
• If you are living in an apartment, be aware that deep rumble can excite things to vibrate and travel through floor and walls. Try to isolate the subwoofer from the floor.
• Do not neglect room treatment as the room is part of the acoustic system you are listening to.
• Doing a subwoofer crawl is the absolute minimum to get a good response at the listening position. Get a measurement mic and DSP/EQ!

Limitations:

• you may not be able to position the subwoofer at the listening position.
• does not work for placing multiple subwoofers.
• does not take into account the rest of the frequency range of sound - which in turn could lead to issue around crossover frequency.
• does not work for multiple seating positions.

Get a measurement microphone and a dsp system!
